Workshop ‘Towards Open and Dynamic Archives’

July 1st 2008

Our Flemish neighbours are also planning to digitize and disclose their audiovisual heritage. On Tuesday 10th June, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel hosted the workshop 'Towards Open and Dynamic Archives'. The BOM-VL project – ‘Storing and Disclosing Multimedia Data in Flanders’ – provided the event with a framework. As Images for the Future’s little sister – the project researches the possibilities offered by the storage and disclosure of multimedia content. The project distinguishes itself with a multidisciplinary approach: all of the important players in the Flamish field of culture and media are involved. During the workshop, Geert Wissink elaborated on Images for the Future’s background and its projects. Johan Oomen (Sound & Vision) delved into several European projects.
