Activities

Images for the Future’s activities can be seen as a chain: the next step can only be taken when the current one has been worked through and completed. We distinguish between the following links in the project:

  • Restoring and preserving
  • Digitizing collections
  • Adding meta-data
  • Making arrangements with copyright holders
  • Contextualizing the collections
  • Channeling content through services and distribution towards the end user

Two workgroups are responsible for these activities: Workgroup 1 directs the first part of the chain (restoration, preservation, digitization, meta-dating); Workgroup 2 oversees the arrangements for copyright holders, contextualization, and the development of services for the end user (click on organization to see how the activities are further divided between the project partners).

Target Groups
Images for the Future focuses on education, the creative industry, and the general public. Educational institutions are the most important target group, because that is where the digitized and contextualized collection is expected to add significant value by way of digital educational tools.

Development of Services
Education is the most important target group in 2007 and 2008. This is why an Education Media Platform pilot is being set up during the second half of 2007, to be kicked off in 2008. Students will be replacing their learning books with educational tools based on the collections.
