Bert Haanstra finally on DVD

December 18th 2007

Whereas in the 90s you still had an off chance of finding a Bert Haanstra VHS, in the following years you had none: all sold out. As of September, this changed: all Haanstra films have been collected in a single DVD-box, aptly titled ‘Haanstra Complete’. It obviously contains the better-knowns – ‘Glas’, ‘Fanfare’ en ‘Alleman’, but you’ll also find obscure little masterpieces such as ‘En de zee was niet meer’ en ‘Delta Phase I’. The box set contains many extras, including a television broadcast about the filmmaker and a book written exclusively for the occasion by Haanstra-expert Klaas Vos. Bert Haanstra shows us The Netherlands as they no longer exist. Fortunately, his films have been preserved for the future.
