Second Prize for Teleblik at Prix Europa Festival
November 2nd 2007
Teleblik, the educational online image bank, was awarded with a second prize at the Prix Europa festival on 21st October. It won this prize in the category ‘Internet Exploration Award’, which stands for projects that innovatively apply the possibilities of online media. The jury, very enthusiastic about Teleblik, rewarded the website with a special decoration. Teleblik proves, according to the jury, that it is possible to provide access to archives elegantly and in a user-friendly way. Compliments were especially paid to Teleblik’s suggestions and tips regarding the didactic use of source material, as well as to its virtual editing desk. With the prize, Teleblik has proven its worth as a European frontrunner for the disclosure of archived sources for educational purposes. Earlier, Teleblik won the Prix d’Italia.
The jury:
[…] And availability of archives is not the only need. […] Young people need to learn the process of creating audio visual. It must be possible for them not just to see archives, but also to use them for their own work.
This web site has broken the mould, and proven that you can do all these things well. Audio visual archives can be made available for education - easily, simply, and elegantly. Rights and technology problems can be overcome. This website is the proof. It will set an example for the rest of Europe and the world to follow.
This web site shines a light in the dark, which will grow and grow. A Special Commendation in the Prix Europa Internet Exploration Award is awarded to 'Teleblik', which was co produced by a group of media organisations in the Netherlands, Teleac/NOT, the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, and Kennisnet Ict op School.
